October 2026 evening concert: do we need porta potties with solar lights for safety?

I'm planning an outdoor concert for October 2026, expecting around 500 guests. The event runs from 4 PM to 10 PM, so it'll be fully dark by the end. We're serving beer and wine, and there's a food truck on site. The field is grassy but mostly level, and the rental truck can pull right up to the placement area. I've ordered 10 standard units and one ADA-compliant unit to meet the ADA cluster rule. My worry is guest safety after sunset, navigating to unlit toilets in the dark seems risky. Should I add solar lights to each unit, or is there a better way to handle lighting? Also, does the rental company typically include lights, or is that an extra cost?

Yes, you need lighting for the portable toilets at your evening concert. The rental company does not typically include solar lights with the standard units; this is an add-on that costs extra, driven by the equipment and labor to install them. The ADA-compliant unit may have lighting as part of its accessibility features, but you should confirm with the rental company. For safety, consider adding solar lights to each standard unit or placing battery-powered lanterns or string lights around the cluster. Your unit count follows the event planning guideline, which suggests more units for alcohol service and longer events. With 500 guests and a six-hour duration including alcohol, 10 standard units and one ADA-compliant unit is appropriate. Ensure the placement is on level ground with clear access for the service truck, and discuss service frequency with the rental company since events with alcohol may require post-event servicing.
