Level ground
Also called: firm level surface
Level ground is the flat, firm surface a portable toilet must sit on so the door swings correctly, the unit does not rock or tip, and the tank contents stay away from the door. Operators place units on shims or plywood when the ground is uneven.
A unit on a slope leans toward the low side, the door swings on its own, and in wind the unit becomes a sail with a high center of gravity. Gravel, asphalt, concrete and packed dirt work; fresh sod, sand and mud do not.
For restroom trailers, leveling is done with jacks and blocks and takes the driver time, which is part of the setup fee.
