How to keep porta potty lines short at a 300-guest evening wedding?

We're planning our wedding for October 2026, and it will be a big one: 300 guests, a long evening reception with dinner and an open bar, all in a field on my parents' property. The ground is flat grass, and a truck can get right up to the area where we want the bathrooms. I'm already thinking about the bathroom situation because I've been to weddings where the porta potty lines were so long they killed the vibe.

We're considering either a mix of standard units and a deluxe unit or maybe a restroom trailer. I want to make sure we have enough facilities so no one is waiting around. How do you calculate the right number of units for a crowd that size with alcohol involved? And does a restroom trailer actually move people through faster than individual portable toilets?

For 300 guests at a long evening wedding with an open bar, plan on more than the standard one unit per 50-75 people guideline. I'd use a restroom trailer or add extra individual units to prevent lines. A restroom trailer with multiple stalls moves people faster than individual portable toilets because it has separate compartments, reducing wait times. For a mix of individual units, include at least one ADA-compliant portable toilet per cluster. Service frequency depends on use; with alcohol and a long event, you may need mid-event servicing. Costs are driven by unit type, rental duration, service frequency, and delivery distance. Level ground and truck access are key for placement and servicing.
