Porta Potty Forum

Youth soccer tournament on our fields and the one restroom building keeps getting locked up. Do we add porta potties for just the weekend?

We run a small town parks department and we host a two day youth soccer tournament in two weeks. The field complex has a single restroom building that the league locks up whenever a game gets rowdy, and last year the line backed up past the concession stand.

I'm thinking we bring in a few standard units out by the far fields so parents aren't hiking back across the lot with little kids. Is it normal to set them up for a weekend only, or do rental outfits usually want a longer minimum? And where do you put them so the truck can still get in without tearing up the turf between games?

Would love to hear from anyone who has handled a weekend sports crowd on grass fields.

Yes, you can rent portable toilets for a weekend only. Most rental companies offer weekend or event rates for short-term needs like a youth soccer tournament.

For your tournament, place a cluster of standard units near the far fields to reduce walking. Include at least one ADA-compliant unit per the ADA cluster rule. Use the event planning guideline of about one unit per 50 to 75 people, and add more if the crowd is mostly families with children.

Choose level ground close to where the vacuum truck can park without driving on turf. The truck needs clear truck access within about 25 feet on service days. For a two-day event, schedule a service visit after day one to prevent overuse.

Weekend rentals cost more per day than long-term contracts due to delivery, pickup, and servicing labor. Avoid add-ons like deluxe units or restroom trailers to keep it simple and affordable.
