What's the most creative placement you've seen for a porta potty on a tricky site?

We've got a new hunting camp site this season that's all slope and shale. The only flat spot big enough for a standard unit is a good hundred yards from where the crew tents are, and the service truck can only get within fifty feet of it on a narrow track. It got me thinking about how other folks solve this kind of problem.

I've seen standard units strapped to pallets and skidded into place with a tractor. I heard about a crew that used a small crane to set a couple of units on a scaffold platform halfway up a steep construction site. And once, for a weekend wedding on a hillside vineyard, they used a deluxe unit with a ramp built from railroad ties to get it level.

What's the most creative placement you've seen for a porta potty on a tricky site? How did they handle the delivery and the service visits?

The most creative placement I serviced was a standard unit winched up a wooded slope on a custom sled, then chained to two trees to keep it from sliding. The delivery crew used an ATV with a winch. For service, I had to park the vacuum truck at the base and run extra hose. That setup added cost for the custom sled, the winching labor, and the longer hose pull every visit. On a slope and shale site like yours, a deluxe unit with a ramp might work if you can secure it. For service, fifty feet of hose pull is doable, but expect a higher rate for the extra time and hose. Always confirm truck access for every service day, if the driver can’t get close, it’s a missed service and you still pay for the trip.
