October 2026 wedding: 250 guests, 8 hours, open bar. Units needed?

We're planning our wedding for October 2026: 250 guests, an 8-hour reception with dinner and an open bar. The venue is a private farm with a large tent on grass, and the rental company's vacuum truck can drive right up to the spot. I'm trying to figure out how many units we need to avoid long lines, especially with alcohol involved. Should we go with a mix of standard portable toilets and deluxe units, or consider a restroom trailer? Also, how many ADA-compliant units are required for a cluster this size?

You need at least 8 portable toilets for 250 guests at an 8-hour event with an open bar, plus one ADA-compliant unit. The units per person guideline starts at one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, but alcohol and longer duration require more units. Add extra units to prevent lines, especially with an open bar.

A mix of standard units and deluxe units works well for weddings, with deluxe units offering flushing and sinks for guest comfort. The ADA cluster rule requires at least one ADA-compliant unit per cluster, so include one. A restroom trailer is another option, but it needs level ground, power, and may cost more due to setup complexity.

Service frequency depends on use: weekly is standard, but for a one-day event, service before and after is typical. Your venue's easy truck access helps keep costs down, as difficult placements add fees. Focus on unit type, rental duration, and service needs when comparing quotes.
