Can porta potties be placed on a grassy area for a Saturday wedding?

I'm planning my wedding for next spring on my parents' property in Charleston. It's a Saturday event with 140 guests, a tent, a band, and a catered dinner. We'll be serving alcohol. The whole thing will be on a grassy lawn, no paved surfaces at all. I'm looking at renting a few standard portable toilets and an ADA-compliant unit to meet the ADA cluster rule. The rental company hasn't asked about the ground type yet, but I want to make sure it's okay. Can porta potties be placed directly on grass for a one-day wedding? Do they need any special setup to stay stable, or will they sink or tip? The spot is accessible for a truck to deliver and service them.

Yes, portable toilets can be placed directly on grass for a one-day wedding. A standard portable toilet on level grass is stable for an event of that duration. The rental company will use staking and tie-downs if the ground is soft or the area is windy, but for a calm day on firm turf, staking might not be necessary. Your spot with truck access is ideal for delivery and service. Plan for more units due to alcohol and a longer event, the one unit per 50 to 75 people guideline is a starting point. Include a handwash station or hand sanitizer dispensers at each cluster. The ADA-compliant portable toilet is required by the ADA cluster rule since you have multiple units. Inform the rental company about the grass surface so they confirm the placement is level and prepare any needed stabilizers.
