Hosting a high school cross country meet on our farm: how many porta potties, and where along the course?
The high school asked if they can run their fall cross country invitational on our farm, since their usual park course is torn up for a road project. It's one Saturday in late October. The coach expects about 12 schools and maybe 350 runners, so with parents and coaches we could have 800 people here at the busiest point. Races go off roughly every 45 minutes from 8am to about 2pm.
From my own kid's meets I remember every runner wants a bathroom in the ten minutes before their race. Team tents will line the trees by the barn, the start line is about a quarter mile out in the hayfield, and buses park on the gravel lot.
How many units do we need for that, and should we split them between the start line and the tent area or keep one cluster? Do we need handwash stations if the only food is a booster table with bagels?
