Construction site locked after hours: leave unit outside or give code?

Got a 40-man crew on a 6-month commercial build. We have a cluster of four standard units and one ADA-compliant unit on-site. The gate gets locked after hours and on weekends. My rental company says their vacuum truck needs to service them weekly, but they can't get in without the code. I'm torn between leaving the units outside the fence where they're an easy target for vandals, or giving the gate code to the drivers. The truck access is fine either way, it's paved and level. What's the better move here? Do you share codes or take the vandalism risk?

Give the gate code to your rental company. The risk of blocked service visits is higher than the risk of vandalism.

Your standard unit cluster is correctly sized for your crew. OSHA 1926.51 requires one toilet per 40 workers for a crew of 20 to 199, and you have four standard units plus the ADA-compliant unit for the required accessibility. A blocked service is a real cost. The rental company will log a missed service and bill for the trip if their vacuum truck cannot reach the units. Over a six-month project, that adds up. Vandalism is a possibility outside the fence, but a professional operator has insurance for damaged units, and the driver will report any issues immediately. I have given gate codes for years without a security problem. Confirm that the company will provide the driver's name and schedule the visit in advance. Keeping the units inside protects them from the public and ensures they are serviced on time.
