Backyard party with 80 people: How many porta potties for 5 hours?

I'm planning a backyard party for 80 guests this September. It's a five-hour event in the evening, from 5 PM to 10 PM, on my flat lawn. We'll be serving beer and wine, and having a catered buffet. The driveway is gravel and can fit a large truck for delivery and pickup. I want to avoid having a long line form for the restroom, which can really put a damper on a party.

I know I need at least one ADA-compliant portable toilet because of the ADA 5 percent cluster rule, but I'm unsure about the total number. I'm considering a mix of standard units and maybe one deluxe unit for a nicer option. Is five hours with alcohol enough to need more than the basic minimum? Should I plan for a handwash station as well?

For 80 guests at a five-hour evening party with alcohol, you need at least three portable toilets to avoid long lines. That includes one ADA-compliant portable toilet and two standard units. The event planning guideline suggests one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, but alcohol consumption increases usage, and five hours is pushing beyond a short gathering. A deluxe unit with a sink and mirror is a good upgrade for guest comfort, replacing one standard unit if your budget allows. You definitely need a handwash station with soap and water, especially with a buffet, to meet basic hygiene. Since it's a one-day event, weekly service isn't needed, but the rental company will service the units after pickup. Your gravel driveway and flat lawn are ideal for placement and truck access. Cluster them together on level ground, not too far from the party but downwind if possible.
