Backyard quinceañera for about 90 guests: one unit enough or need two?

We're hosting my niece's quinceañera in our backyard next month. About 90 guests, food under a tent, party runs from mid-afternoon into the evening. The house bathrooms are on the far side through the kitchen, so we want a unit outside by the patio so guests aren't tracking through the house.

The rental quote came back with two standard units and a separate handwash station. My sister thinks one unit is enough for a family party and that the second is padding. Soft drinks and cake, no open bar. Ground by the fence is flat and the truck can pull in from the alley.

Is one unit realistic if people come and go over six hours, or should we just take the two? Also, is the handwash station worth it when people will be eating outdoors, or is sanitizer enough for a family party like this?

You need two standard units for 90 guests at a six-hour event. One unit is not enough. The rental company's quote is correct.

The industry guideline for events is about one portable toilet per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event. Your party is longer and includes food, so you need more capacity. Two units prevent long lines and keep the holding tanks from filling too quickly. A handwash station is essential with food service. Hand sanitizer alone does not remove food residue or meet health standards for eating. The handwash station uses fresh water and soap, which guests will appreciate.

Place both units and the handwash station together on the level ground near the patio. This keeps guests from tracking through the house and makes the setup convenient. Since truck access is good from the alley, service will be straightforward if you need it during the event, though weekly service is standard for rentals.

Brooke is right about the two units, and the handwash station is non-negotiable with food. The rental company's quote is standard practice. One unit for 90 guests over six hours will cause a line, and the holding tank on a standard unit will likely fill up. The guideline is about one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event. Your party is longer, so two units provide the needed capacity. For the handwash station, hand sanitizer does not clean hands for eating; only soap and water remove food residue and grease. Place the two units and the handwash station together on your level ground near the patio.
