Harvest crew for three weeks: monthly rate or short-term pricing?

Ashley M.asked 0 viewsHome Renovations & Long-termLong term rentalMonthly rentalService frequencyStandard unitHow many

We're bringing in a harvest crew of about ten people for roughly three weeks on our acreage. There's no indoor bathroom near the packing shed, so we need a standard unit dropped where the truck can still reach it for service.

The quotes I've seen split into a monthly construction-style rate with weekly pump-outs, versus something that looks more like a weekend event price stretched across three weeks. For a short seasonal crew like this, which pricing path is normal, and how often should the unit get serviced if they're working long hot days?

Also wondering if one unit is enough for ten people when they're all on site most of the day, or if we should plan on two from the start. Level gravel near the shed, easy truck access. No neighbors close enough to care about sight lines.

For a three-week harvest crew of ten, you want a monthly rental rate with weekly service, not an event rate. The monthly rate is the normal pricing path for any job over a week because it is designed for a standard service schedule and predictable costs. An event rate is for weekends and short gatherings where the units get a single service or no service at all.

One standard unit is enough for ten people. OSHA 1926.51 requires one toilet for 20 or fewer workers on a construction site, and your farm crew falls under that. But you should consider a second unit if the crew is mostly women or if you want to avoid any wait times during peak breaks. A handwash station is also a good idea for a food-handling environment.

Weekly service is the industry norm, but long hot days mean the unit will fill faster and odors will be stronger. For a crew of ten working full days, you might need service every five or six days instead of seven. Tell the rental company about the heavy use so they can schedule accordingly. The final price depends on the unit type, the rental duration, the service frequency, and the delivery distance. Your described placement on level gravel with easy truck access is perfect.
