Backyard wedding: can we put the porta potties behind a privacy screen?

We're having our wedding in my parents' backyard next spring, with about 140 guests for a six-hour reception under a tent. The caterer is bringing a full buffet and we'll have an open bar. I'm renting a mix of standard portable toilets and an ADA-compliant portable toilet to meet the ADA cluster rule. The only good spot to place them is behind a large garden shed, which is level grass and has decent truck access from the driveway. We want to build a nice lattice screen to hide the units from the party area. I know the service truck needs to get close to pump them. Is there a minimum clearance the rental company needs between the screen and the units for the hose and for the technician to work? Should we leave one side open or build a gate?

Yes, you can hide the units behind a lattice privacy screen as long as the service tech can still reach the pump-out fittings and the ADA unit keeps a clear front approach.

Leave one full side open or build a wide gate. Most vacuum trucks roll hose from the driveway, so the tech needs a straight walk to the rear of each cabinet without climbing fencing or dragging hose over flower beds. Do not box them in on all four sides. A three-sided screen with the open face toward truck access is the usual setup for backyard weddings.

Keep level ground under the cluster and do not crowd the door swings. The ADA-compliant portable toilet needs room for a wheelchair to roll straight to the door, so the lattice should not pinch that path. Ask the rental company where their hose usually lands before you set posts. If you can, drop the units first, mark the spots, then build the screen around them.

For a six-hour reception with buffet and an open bar, confirm the morning drop includes a full chemical charge and stocked supplies. If guest count is high, ask whether a mid-event service stop is available.
