November 2026 wedding: 150 guests, 6 hours, open bar. How many units?

We're getting married next November in my parents' backyard. It's a 150-person wedding with a six-hour reception, an open bar, and a full dinner. The ground is level grass and the truck can pull right up to the spot. I want everyone comfortable and don't want lines. How many units do I need? Should I get a mix of standard and deluxe, or a restroom trailer? Does the open bar mean I need more?

For a 150-guest wedding with an open bar and six-hour duration, you need a minimum of four portable toilets, but I recommend five or six units to prevent lines and account for alcohol consumption. The industry units per person guideline starts around one unit per 50-75 people for a four-hour event, but alcohol and longer events require more units. Since your event is six hours with an open bar, add at least one extra unit.

Get a mix: include at least one ADA-compliant portable toilet to meet accessibility needs, and consider deluxe units with flushing and sinks for guest comfort. A restroom trailer is an upscale option but requires level ground, electrical power, and potentially a generator, which adds complexity and cost. Your level grass and truck access are ideal for any placement.

Service frequency depends on use: for a one-day event, units are delivered clean and serviced after, but if you rent them longer, weekly service is standard. The open bar increases usage, so more units reduce the risk of overuse and odors. Factor in unit type, rental duration, and service needs when comparing options.
