October 2026 wedding: 150 guests, open bar. How many porta potties?

We're getting married in October 2026 on my family's property in upstate South Carolina. We'll have about 150 guests, a full dinner, and an open bar for about 6 hours. The reception is in a large tent on a flat, grassy field, and a truck can get within about 30 feet of the area. I'm trying to avoid long bathroom lines, which I know are a big complaint at weddings. I'm looking at options like a few standard portable toilets, maybe a deluxe unit or two, or even a small restroom trailer. With that many people and an open bar, how many total units should I rent? And is a trailer worth the extra cost for a wedding guest experience?

For 150 wedding guests with an open bar over six hours, rent at least four portable toilets. The industry guideline starts at one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, but alcohol and longer duration mean you need more. A restroom trailer often has multiple stalls and sinks, which reduces lines and feels more like a permanent bathroom. It costs more because it requires level ground, electrical hookup or a generator, and possibly fresh water supply. If you choose individual units, include one ADA-compliant portable toilet per cluster to meet accessibility rules. Deluxe units with flushing and sinks improve comfort. Service frequency depends on use: weekly is standard, but for a one-day event, units are delivered clean and serviced after. Your flat field and 30-foot truck access are ideal for placement.
