100-person wedding, 70% women, 6-hour event: is the standard 'per 50 people' guideline enough?

I'm planning a backyard wedding for 100 guests, about 70 of whom are women, with an open bar and dinner service. The event will run about six hours. I've seen the standard guideline of one standard portable toilet per 50 people, but I'm worried that won't cut it with mostly female guests and alcohol involved. I'm considering a mix of standard units and maybe one ADA-compliant portable toilet to meet the ADA cluster rule, but I don't want anyone waiting in long lines. The ground is level grass, and a truck can access the spot easily. Should I stick with the basic ratio, or do I need more units for this crowd?

Two standard units are not enough for your 100-person wedding with mostly women and an open bar. The standard guideline of one unit per 50 to 75 people applies to a four-hour event without alcohol. Your six-hour event with dinner and drinks requires more units because women use restrooms more often and alcohol increases the frequency of use.

Plan for at least three or four standard units in a single cluster. You must include one ADA-compliant portable toilet in that cluster to comply with the ADA cluster rule. Position the units on level ground with clear truck access for delivery and any needed service. A handwash station near the cluster is essential for guest hygiene.

For a wedding, consider upgrading one or two units to deluxe portable toilets with flushing action and a sink. This improves the guest experience significantly. A restroom trailer is another option if you have power and level ground, but it costs more due to the need for a generator or hookup. The key is to avoid queues by providing ample facilities from the start.
