What's the maximum hose length for a vacuum truck?

Our construction site has a standard portable toilet set up for the crew about 100 feet from the road, on flat dirt. The driver from the rental company told me his hose might not reach that far on the first service visit. I need to know what the typical hose length limit is for a vacuum truck.

In my experience, the hose on most vacuum trucks is around 100 to 150 feet. But that’s the total length, and you lose some to the truck’s setup and the unit’s inlet. If the unit is uphill or there are obstacles, the effective reach is shorter. A blocked unit usually gets logged as a missed service, and you still get billed for the trip.

Is 100 feet usually a problem? Do some companies have longer hoses, or do I need to move the unit closer to the road for every service day?

The maximum hose length for a vacuum truck is typically 150 feet, but the effective working reach is shorter. A standard vacuum truck carries about 100 to 150 feet of hose. You lose length to the truck's setup and the connection to the holding tank inlet. Obstacles or uphill placement also reduce the reach.

Your unit at 100 feet is at the limit. Some companies have longer hoses, but friction in a longer hose reduces suction power, making pumping slower. If the driver cannot reach the unit, it is logged as a missed service and you are billed for the trip. You should move the unit closer to the road, ensuring truck access on every service day. A blocked unit costs the rental company a wasted trip, which affects pricing.
