Will a standard porta potty work for a 6-month garage build?

We're starting a detached garage build in November here in Portland, and it's going to take about six months. There will be a crew of four to six people using it daily. I'm planning to rent a standard portable toilet for the duration, but I'm worried about two things: freezing during our winter rains and occasional snow, and whether weekly service will be enough with the crew using it all day. The unit will be placed on our gravel driveway, which is accessible for a truck. Has anyone used a standard unit through a winter build? Did you need more frequent service or a different type of unit?

A standard portable toilet will work for your six-month garage build. Your crew of four to six people is well within the OSHA construction standard, which requires one toilet for up to 20 workers. Weekly service is the industry norm for a crew that size, but you should monitor usage. If the unit gets heavy traffic or smells develop between visits, ask your rental company to increase the service frequency.

For a Portland winter, a standard unit is your best bet. The holding tank contains a liquid waste and deodorizer solution that resists freezing down to a point. Your operator will add a brine or non-toxic antifreeze at each service to prevent freezing in typical Oregon winter conditions. Flushing units and handwash stations are more prone to freezing because their fresh water tanks can ice up. Your gravel driveway with truck access is ideal. Just confirm the unit is on level ground and not blocked on service days.
