October 2026 fall festival: any special setup for porta potties in a park?

I'm coordinating the restroom plan for our city's October 2026 fall festival, which runs for two full days in the park. We expect about 800 people per day, with food vendors and beer gardens. The ground is a flat grassy area, and the rental company’s vacuum truck can pull right up to the placement spot. I've already budgeted for a mix of standard units, a couple of deluxe units, and an ADA-compliant unit.

My question is whether the season, late October, requires any special setup for the porta potties. Does the cooler weather affect the placement on the grass, or should I ask the rental company to adjust the service frequency? Also, since it gets dark earlier, do we need to add solar lights to the units?

Yes, late October weather requires a few adjustments for portable toilets at your festival. The cooler weather itself does not change placement on grass, but rain can soften the ground; confirm the rental company uses staking and tie-downs to secure units. Service frequency may need adjustment: cooler temperatures slow waste decomposition and reduce odor, but with 800 people daily, food, and alcohol, you likely need service midway through the two-day event to prevent overfilling. Ask the rental company about a service visit between days. For darkness, add solar lights to each unit cluster, guests notice poor lighting and avoid dim restrooms. Your unit mix sounds solid: follow the ADA cluster rule for accessibility, and consider extra units due to alcohol consumption and long hours.
