What drives the cost difference between a standard and an ADA unit?

Got a quote for a construction site with 30 workers, 8 weeks, no food or alcohol. The ground is level gravel and the truck access is good. The standard unit is priced lower than the ADA-compliant portable toilet. I know the ADA unit is bigger and has more features like a ramp and handrails. But what exactly drives that cost difference? Is it just the materials, or does the service take longer? Does the rental company charge more for delivery because it's heavier? Trying to understand the quote before I sign.

An ADA-compliant portable toilet costs more due to its size, weight, features, and service requirements. It is larger to accommodate wheelchair turning space and has a ramp, handrails, and a wider door, which increases material and manufacturing costs. Its heavier weight may require more effort or a larger truck for delivery, though good access like your gravel site minimizes this. Servicing takes slightly longer because the interior is larger to clean and restock. For your 30-worker site, OSHA 1926.51 requires one toilet unit, and adding an ADA unit ensures compliance with the ADA 5 percent cluster rule if multiple units are present. The eight-week duration and weekly service are standard, but the ADA unit's premium features justify the higher rental rate.
