Our porta potty got tagged with graffiti. Who handles cleanup?

Our crew of 40 has a standard portable toilet on site, rented for a 12-week commercial build. It's on level ground with truck access for weekly service. Last night, someone spray-painted graffiti all over the side and door. The rental agreement has a damage waiver clause, but it's not clear if vandalism like this is covered. Who handles the cleanup, us or the rental company? Do we need to report it to them before the next service visit?

The rental company handles graffiti cleanup. Report the vandalism to them immediately, before the next service visit.

Your rental agreement's damage waiver clause typically covers vandalism like spray paint. The operator will send a crew to clean the unit with industrial-grade solvents that remove paint without damaging the plastic shell. Do not attempt to clean it yourself, as harsh chemicals or improper methods can etch the surface or void the waiver.

On my route, I see tagged units every few weeks. We carry graffiti remover on the truck and handle it during the regular service call if we know about it. But if you don't report it, the driver might note the damage as unreported and the company could charge for the cleanup later. A quick call or email with a photo ensures it's logged and handled without extra fees.

Keep the unit accessible for the service truck. They'll need to reach all sides to scrub it properly.
