Hunting camp porta potty: Will it last 4 months without service?

We have a hunting camp on our ranch, up a 40-mile dirt road. Every weekend from September through December, a crew of six guys uses the camp. The ground is packed earth, and a service truck can pull right up to the spot. We're trying to avoid the cost of monthly visits.

I'm wondering if a single standard portable toilet can handle four months of weekend use with just one service at the start of the season. The unit would sit unused from Monday to Thursday. I'm concerned about the holding tank filling up and odor getting out of hand.

Has anyone run a weekend-only camp with a unit for a full season? What was the capacity like, and how did you manage the odor?

No, a single standard portable toilet will not last four months without service for six people, even with weekend-only use. The holding tank holds 50 to 70 gallons, and six men over 16 weekends will fill it. Weekly service is the industry norm because waste volume and odor build up. Unused days do not stop bacterial activity or evaporation of the deodorizer.

I rented a unit for my home reno and saw how quickly it needed pumping. For your camp, the odor will become severe, and the tank may overflow. You need service visits. Ask the rental company about a long-term contract with fewer visits, like monthly, since usage is light. They might offer a discount for the season. Place it on level ground with clear truck access to avoid missed service fees. A hand sanitizer dispenser mounted outside helps hygiene without water.
