50-person crew, 10-hour days: weekly or bi-weekly service?

I have a 50-person crew on a 10-hour day shift, five days a week. The ground is level and the placement is accessible for a vacuum truck. We have two standard portable toilets and one ADA-compliant portable toilet on site to meet the ADA 5 percent cluster rule. The rental company is currently servicing them weekly, but by Friday the units are getting pretty full and the deodorizer seems weak. OSHA requires one toilet per 20 workers here, so we have enough units. I am wondering if 50 people using three units for 50 hours a week is too much for a seven-day service frequency. Should I ask for bi-weekly service, or is weekly standard for this load?

Weekly is already too light for that load. Bi-weekly would make Friday worse, not better.

Fifty people on three units across five 10-hour days fills holding tanks fast. When the tank is near full by Friday and the deodorizer smells weak, that is the unit telling you the service frequency is short of the use rate. Ask for twice-a-week pumps, not fewer.

OSHA 1926.51 sets how many toilets you need for the headcount. It does not set how often the vacuum truck has to come. Count you already have. Pump cadence is what is failing.

On my framing jobs with a similar crew size I schedule midweek and Friday service when the site is busy. That keeps the tanks from riding full over the weekend and resets the chemical charge. Tell the rental desk the units are full by Friday on the current weekly visit and ask them to move you to two pumps a week while the 50-person crew is on site.
