Porta potty for a 6-month garage build in rainy Seattle.

We're starting a six-month project to convert our detached garage into an ADU, and I need to rent a portable toilet for the crew. There will be a crew of three to five people using it daily. The unit will sit on a gravel patch next to the driveway, which is on a slight slope but mostly level. A vacuum truck can pull right up next to it. My big worry is the Seattle weather. It's going to be sitting through the rainy season and some cold snaps. I'm concerned about moisture getting inside, mold growing, and the unit just generally breaking down from being damp for months. Should I be looking at a basic standard unit or is a deluxe unit with a door that seals better a smarter choice for this climate? Do I need to ask the rental company for any specific weatherproofing?

Rent a standard portable toilet for your garage build. A crew of three to five workers requires one unit under OSHA 1926.51. A standard unit handles daily use fine and costs less than a deluxe model. The gravel patch with truck access is ideal. Seattle's rain won't cause mold inside a well-maintained unit. The roof vent allows moisture to escape, and weekly service removes waste and refreshes the deodorizer. Cold snaps are not a problem either; operators add antifreeze to the holding tank to prevent freezing. You don't need special weatherproofing. Just ensure the unit is placed on level ground to avoid tipping. A deluxe unit with a door seal is unnecessary unless you want the sink and mirror for crew comfort. Stick with weekly service, and it'll work all six months.
