How much notice for a last-minute porta potty pickup?

Our bathroom remodel wrapped up three days ahead of schedule, so I called the rental company this morning to get our standard portable toilet picked up. They said they need 48 hours notice for a pickup, which means it's staying on the driveway until Friday. I'm just wondering if that's the normal lead time for everyone else. The unit has been there for six weeks, serviced weekly, and it's on level gravel about 15 feet from the curb with clear truck access. Has anyone had a company come out with less notice, or is 48 hours pretty standard across the board? Also, do they usually charge extra for a rush pickup if you need it sooner?

Yes, 48 hours notice for a pickup is standard across the industry. Rental companies schedule their vacuum truck routes days in advance to maximize efficiency, so a last-minute request often can't be accommodated without disrupting other customers. Your setup, level ground, clear truck access, and 15 feet from the curb, is ideal, but it doesn't change the logistics. Some companies might offer a rush pickup for an extra fee if they have a truck in your area, but that's not guaranteed. The fee reflects the cost of rerouting a driver, which burns extra fuel and time. Since your unit was on a weekly service visit schedule, it's in good condition, so waiting until Friday shouldn't pose any issues. In my experience, planning ahead is key with these companies.
