150 guests, 5-hour wedding with open bar in November 2026

We're planning our wedding for November 2026 on my parents' property in Charleston. It will be an outdoor reception for 150 guests, running about 5 hours in the evening. We'll have a large tent with heaters, a full dinner, and an open bar. The ground is level grass, and a truck can drive right up to the spot where we want to place the restrooms, near the tent.

I'm trying to figure out how many portable toilets we need. With the open bar and a 5-hour duration, I know we'll need more than the basic guideline. I also want to make sure we're following the ADA cluster rule for accessibility.

Should we consider a mix of standard units and one ADA-compliant unit, or would a restroom trailer be a better fit for the guest experience? What's a good starting number of stalls for a crowd this size with alcohol?

For 150 guests at a 5-hour wedding with an open bar, plan for 5 to 7 portable toilets total, including at least one ADA-compliant unit to meet the ADA cluster rule. The open bar and longer duration mean you need more units than the baseline guideline of one per 50, 75 people for a four-hour event. A mix of standard units and one ADA-compliant unit is common and cost-effective, but a restroom trailer offers a higher-end experience with flushing toilets and sinks, though it requires level ground, power, and often costs more due to setup and servicing needs. Servicing isn't required for a one-day event, but ensure units are delivered clean and fully stocked. Placement on level grass with truck access simplifies delivery and avoids extra fees. Consider adding a handwash station for hygiene, especially with food service.
