Porta Potty Forum

Remodel dumpster is blocking the driveway. Can they still pump the porta potty from the street?

We're six weeks into a bathroom remodel and the roll-off dumpster is parked where the vacuum truck used to pull in. Our standard unit sits beside the garage. From the curb to the door is maybe forty feet of hose if the driver parks on the street. Weekly service visit is in the contract. Last Thursday the driver left a note saying he couldn't get close enough and skipped the pump. Neighbors already side-eye the unit, so a missed week is going to get loud. Do most service trucks carry enough hose to work from the street, or do I need to shove the dumpster out of the way every service morning? Trying not to eat a missed-service fee or a smell complaint.

Yes, a vacuum truck can pump a standard unit from the street if the hose reaches. Most service trucks carry 100 to 150 feet of hose, so 40 feet is within range. The driver skips service when the hose won't reach or the path is blocked. Your driver left a note because the dumpster blocked truck access to the normal parking spot. You need to ensure a clear path to the unit on service day. Move the dumpster or confirm with your rental company that street service is possible. A missed service is usually billed, and the unit will smell worse by next week. Talk to your operator about the access issue; they may schedule a different truck or time if you coordinate. Don't risk neighbors complaining or extra fees.
