Odor control

Also called: smell, why does it stink

Odor control in a portable toilet is a combination of deodorizer in the tank, service frequency, ventilation and shade. A unit smells when the tank is overdue, the deodorizer is used up, the vent is blocked or the unit sits in full sun.

The fastest fixes are more frequent service, a second unit to split the load, moving the unit into shade and a stronger deodorizer dose in hot weather. Air fresheners and sprays mask the smell for an hour and do nothing for the tank.

A unit that smells the day after service usually has a tank that was not fully pumped or a vent problem; call the operator.
