Porta Potty Forum

Rifle season opens and my brother in law wants to bring five buddies to hunt our back forty. Where do I put a porta potty so it doesn't end up near the creek?

We own about 40 acres and the back half has a seasonal creek that runs full after any real rain. Brother in law and five friends want to camp out there for the first long weekend of rifle season. I told them a standard unit is the deal, no digging holes on my land.

The flat spot by the old fence line is the easiest for a truck to reach, but it sits maybe 60 feet from the creek bed and water runs through there in spring. Higher ground is up the hill, but the lane gets slick and I don't know if a service truck will make it.

How do you pick the spot? Does the creek matter, or is it mostly about truck access and level ground?

Place the standard unit on higher ground away from the creek, even if truck access is harder. The creek matters because environmental regulations prohibit waste discharge into waterways, and runoff could contaminate it. Choose a spot with level ground at least 100 feet from the creek bed to avoid any risk during rain. For six hunters camping multiple days, one unit is sufficient based on event guidelines, but expect heavier use than a typical event. Service frequency may need to increase to twice during the weekend due to the small group concentrating use. If the hill lane is too slick for a vacuum truck, discuss with the rental company about using a 4x4 vehicle or scheduling service only at the start and end to minimize trips. Prioritize environmental safety over convenience, blocked access or a misplaced unit near water leads to missed service or violations.
