Hunting camp November 2026: 12 people for 10 days. Service needed?

Setting up a hunting camp on my ranch for 12 people over 10 days in November 2026. No utilities, just open ground. We'll have food and alcohol. The service truck can reach the spot, but it's a 40-mile drive for the operator. I'm considering a standard unit or a deluxe unit with a sink. With cold nights and daily use, I'm unsure about the service frequency. Do I need weekly service for 12 people, or can it go longer? What's the best type of unit for this setup?

Book a standard unit with a mid stay service for 12 people over 10 days, because one tank is not going to make it cleanly to day ten with that many people using it every day. We ran a deer camp on our acreage with a smaller group than yours and the tank was getting high and smelly by the second weekend, so I would not try to stretch it.

Skip the deluxe unit with the sink. The fresh water tank and foot pump freeze on cold nights and you end up with a dead sink anyway. A standard unit with a hand sanitizer dispenser, plus a jug of water and soap by the truck, works fine for a camp.

With a 40 mile run for the driver, ask the operator up front which day they can do the service visit and lock it in, because remote stops get bumped first when the weather turns. Also ask them to charge the tank with a salt brine or antifreeze mix for winterization, since a frozen tank cannot be pumped.

Set it on level, firm ground the truck can back right up to, stake it so wind does not tip it, and keep it away from the cook area. Put a headlamp or a cheap light on a hook inside too, because nobody wants to find that door at 2am in the dark.
