Flushing portable toilet

Also called: flushable unit, flush unit, fresh water flush

A flushing portable toilet has a fresh water tank and a foot pump or hand pump that rinses the bowl into the holding tank, so users never see the tank contents. It looks and feels closer to a normal toilet than a standard unit.

The flush water comes from an onboard fresh water tank, not a hookup, and the operator refills it at each service. Because each flush adds water to the holding tank, a flushing unit fills faster than a standard unit with the same number of users and may need more frequent service.

Recirculating flush units use treated tank liquid instead of fresh water; fresh water flush units are the usual choice for events.
