Flushing portable toilet vs. deluxe non-flushing: What's the real difference?

I'm looking at two portable toilet options for a weekend wedding with 120 guests. The rental company offers a deluxe non-flushing unit and a flushing portable toilet, and the flushing one costs more. I know the deluxe unit has a flushing toilet bowl, a small sink, and a mirror, but it still uses a holding tank. The flushing unit also has a bowl and a tank. Is the tank in the flushing unit different from the standard non-flushing holding tank? Does it have a different capacity or a macerator pump? I'm trying to figure out if the higher price is just for the flush handle and the sink water pump, or if the waste system is fundamentally different and might require a special service truck.

A flushing portable toilet uses the same basic gravity-fed holding tank as a deluxe non-flushing unit. The difference is in the user experience, not the waste system. The flushing unit has a foot pedal or push-button that activates a small pump to pull fresh water from a separate onboard tank and flush the bowl. The deluxe unit has a similar flushing bowl, but it's refilled manually with a hand pump integrated into the sink. Neither type has a macerator pump; waste simply drops into the holding tank.

The higher price for the flushing unit covers the more complex water pump mechanism and the convenience of a hands-free flush. Both units require the same service visit from a standard vacuum truck. The service driver pumps the waste from the holding tank, refills the fresh water tank for the flush and sink, and restocks supplies. For your wedding, the flushing unit offers a slightly more polished experience, but the underlying sanitation and servicing logistics are identical to the deluxe model.

The holding tank in a flushing portable toilet is the same gravity-fed plastic tank used in a deluxe non-flushing model, not a different system with a macerator. Ray is correct, but the fresh water system is a key difference. A deluxe unit has a small hand pump to refill the toilet bowl from the sink's water supply. A flushing unit has a pressurized fresh water tank and an electric pump for a hands-free flush. The pressurized system uses more fresh water per flush, so the flushing unit's fresh water tank is typically larger and it may need more frequent refilling during a service visit, which can affect the rental quote for a multi-day event.
