What's the real difference between a deluxe and a flushing portable toilet?

We're planning a backyard wedding for about 80 people, four hours with drinks and dinner. The rental company offers a deluxe portable toilet with a flushing bowl, a sink and a mirror, and a separate flushing portable toilet that also has a sink. Both come with a handwash station outside. The flushing unit costs more per weekend. Our spot is on level grass, and a truck can pull right up to it. I'm trying to figure out if the flushing toilet is worth the extra cost. Does it actually stay cleaner? Is the experience that much better for guests? What's the real difference in how they work and feel?

The real difference is that a deluxe portable toilet has a flushing mechanism that uses a small amount of water from a separate fresh water tank to rinse the bowl into the main holding tank, while a standard unit relies on gravity and the chemical solution in the tank. The deluxe model includes a built-in sink with a foot pump for handwashing, a mirror, and often improved ventilation and lighting, which creates a more indoor-like experience.

For your wedding, the flushing action and the sink inside the unit do help it stay cleaner than a standard non-flushing toilet because waste is rinsed down immediately. Guests will appreciate not having to look into the tank and having a place to wash their hands privately. The experience is noticeably more comfortable, especially for an event with dinner and drinks.

The higher cost of the flushing unit comes from its more complex construction, the fresh water system, and the fact that it requires more water and care during service visits. Since your site has good access, service is straightforward. For 80 people at a four-hour event with alcohol, one deluxe unit plus the separate handwash station is a reasonable setup, though some planners would add a second unit to prevent lines.
