Fall 2026 outdoor wedding: does a restroom trailer need a heated water line?

We're planning an outdoor wedding for fall 2026, late October in Tennessee. The ceremony and reception will be on a grassy field at a private farm, with about 130 guests over six hours into the evening. I've booked a restroom trailer with two flushing toilets and a sink, and the rental company confirmed it has an onboard fresh water tank.

Evenings here can drop into the 40s, and I'm worried the water lines or tank might freeze if we don't have a heated line. The trailer will be placed on level ground about 50 feet from where the delivery truck can park. Does a restroom trailer need a heated water line for these conditions, or is the standard setup sufficient? What specific questions should I ask the rental company about their winterization process?

A late October evening in the 40s usually does not need a heated water line if the restroom trailer is self-contained and shows up the day of the wedding. Water freezes at 32°F, so the real risk is overnight staging when lows flirt with freezing, not a six-hour reception that wraps before midnight.

If the unit runs off its own fresh water tank and holding tank, ask whether the pump cabinet has heat and whether they leave power on the whole time (shore power or a small generator). A "heated water line" mostly matters when they want to hook a hose to a building. That hose can freeze even when the onboard tank is fine.

Ask three things: drop-off and pick-up times, whether they winterize for overnight staging in the 30s, and what they do if a cold snap hits the night before. On level ground with truck access, the short-event package is usually enough unless they plan to leave it unpowered overnight near freezing.
