Porta potty, porta john, portaloo, port-o-let: all the names for the same thing, by region
I am a general superintendent for a commercial GC in the Midwest. I have ordered portable toilets for jobs from Ohio to Missouri to the Dakotas. I hear different names for the same thing depending on who I am talking to. On our sites, the crew calls it a porta john. My rental company's paperwork says portable sanitation unit. The permit office in one county called it a chemical toilet. At a wedding last year, the coordinator pointed guests to the 'restroom trailer'. I have never heard 'portaloo' in person, but I see it online.
What names do you use? Is there a regional split? Are there names that mark you as a newbie on a job site?
