Porta potty for a 6-month garage build: weekly or bi-weekly service?

We are about to start a six-month garage build on a level gravel driveway with easy truck access. The crew will be four people working full days, five days a week. I'm renting one standard portable toilet for them. The rental company offers weekly or bi-weekly service visits. Weekly costs more but I worry bi-weekly might not be enough for four guys using it daily. Has anyone done a similar long-term project with a small crew? What service frequency worked without issues or odors?

Book weekly service for your garage build. A standard portable toilet with four daily users will become unpleasant and full on a bi-weekly schedule.

OSHA 1926.51 requires one toilet for 20 or fewer workers, so one unit is compliant. The holding tank holds 50 to 70 gallons. With four men using it five days a week, that tank will be near capacity after one week. A bi-weekly service visit risks overflows and strong odors, especially in warmer weather. The rental company will pump the tank, add fresh deodorizer, and restock supplies on their visit.

Weekly service is the industry standard for a reason. It maintains sanitation and is a fixed cost for the project. A blocked unit or a need for an extra service call will cost more than the weekly plan. On a six-month job, reliable weekly service prevents problems. Your setup sounds good: level gravel and easy truck access make servicing straightforward.

Luis is right about weekly service, but the invoice detail matters too. The monthly rental rate for a standard portable toilet is one line item. Service visits are a separate charge. Confirm the invoice clearly separates the unit rental from the service trips. For a four-person crew, the holding tank will fill in about a week. A missed service because the unit was blocked by materials is still a billable service call. Your driver needs that clear path for the vacuum truck on the scheduled day. Keep the area around the unit clear. The rental company will note an inaccessible unit and charge for the trip without pumping it.
