80-person wedding, 60% women: two standard units enough?

Brooke L.asked 0 viewsHow Many UnitsUnits per personEvents and weddingsHow many unitsStandard unitAda cluster rule

We're planning a backyard wedding for 80 guests, with a five-hour reception and alcohol served. The guest list has more women than men. I'm trying to figure out if two standard portable toilets will be enough to avoid long lines. The ground is level grass, and a truck can reach the spot easily. I'm also wondering if I need an ADA-compliant unit since we're clustering them. What do you think? Should I add a third unit or look into a restroom trailer instead?

Two standard portable toilets are not enough for an 80-person wedding with alcohol and a five-hour reception. The industry guideline suggests starting with about one standard unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, and you should add units for alcohol, longer duration, and a crowd that is mostly women. For your event, plan for at least three standard units.

You also need an ADA-compliant portable toilet if you cluster units at one location. The ADA 5 percent cluster rule requires at least one accessible unit per cluster. Since you are placing multiple units, include one ADA-compliant unit to meet this requirement.

A restroom trailer is an alternative that offers more comfort with flushing toilets and sinks, but it requires level ground, electrical power, and possibly a water hookup. It costs more due to these needs and higher service demands. For your event, three standard units plus one ADA unit would be sufficient and more cost-effective than a trailer.
