Pumpkin patch weekends with a few hundred visitors: how many porta potties, and do we need a handwash station?
We added a pumpkin patch to the farm this year, open Saturdays and Sundays through October, roughly 10 to 5. Last weekend was way busier than I planned for. I'd guess a few hundred people came through each day, mostly families with little kids, and a lot of them stayed a couple hours for the hayride and the goat pen.
Right now we have one standard unit out by the parking field and it had a line most of Saturday afternoon. The farmhouse bathroom is off limits.
A few things I'm trying to figure out:
How many units should I add for weekends like that, and should one be the bigger accessible kind for strollers and parents with toddlers?
Is a handwash station a must since people are petting the goats and then eating kettle corn?
Is weekly service enough if they only get used two days a week?
