2026 fall wedding: porta potty count for 200 guests with catering?

We're planning our outdoor wedding for October 2026 with 200 guests, full catering, and an open bar. The ceremony and reception will be on a grassy field at a private estate, it's mostly level, and a truck can drive right up to the site. We're trying to decide between renting standard units or upgrading to a restroom trailer. How many units do we need for a 6-hour event with dinner and drinks? Should we include an ADA-compliant unit even though we don't have any guests using wheelchairs?

For 200 guests at a 6-hour wedding with dinner and an open bar, you need a minimum of four portable toilets, plus one ADA-compliant portable toilet. The units per person guideline starts at about one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, but alcohol and longer durations increase usage. A full bar means more frequent visits, so I'd recommend adding an extra unit beyond the baseline count. The ADA 5 percent cluster rule requires at least one accessible unit in a cluster, and it's a good practice even without wheelchair-using guests for anyone with mobility issues or parents with strollers.

Choosing between standard units and a restroom trailer depends on the guest experience you want. Standard units are cost-effective and work fine on level ground. A restroom trailer offers flushing toilets and sinks but needs a generator or power hookup and level placement. For service, a single event like this doesn't require a mid-event pump-out if the units start empty, but confirm with the rental company. The price is driven by unit type, rental duration, and delivery distance.
