Our driveway is blocked by a dumpster. Can they still service the porta potty?

Our bathroom renovation is in full swing, and we have a standard portable toilet on our asphalt driveway. The rental company scheduled a weekly service visit. Today, the construction crew delivered a huge dumpster for the demo debris, and they parked it right between the driveway entrance and the porta potty. There's maybe ten feet of clearance on one side, but I'm not sure a vacuum truck needs more room than that. The service is supposed to happen tomorrow morning. If the truck driver shows up and the dumpster is still there, what happens? Do they just skip it and bill us for a missed service? Should I call the rental company tonight to give them a heads-up, or try to get the dumpster moved first thing?

Yes, a blocked driveway will cause a missed service. The vacuum truck that pumps the unit needs a clear path to park within about 25 feet of it. Ten feet of clearance is not enough. If the driver cannot reach the standard portable toilet, they log a missed service and the rental company will bill you for the trip.

Call the rental company tonight. Give them a heads-up about the dumpster blocking truck access. They can note it on the schedule and might reschedule the service for later in the day if you confirm the path will be clear. Also, talk to your construction crew first thing in the morning to move the dumpster. A temporary move for the service visit is usually possible. If the truck arrives and the unit is still blocked, you pay for a trip that accomplished nothing. Proactive communication prevents that charge.
