What's the point of a deluxe porta potty over a standard one?

A deluxe unit is mainly about guest comfort, not about handling more people per box.

On a three-day festival with food and drinks, the difference guests notice is the flush bowl and the sink inside the cabin. A standard unit uses a holding tank with chemical deodorizer and no flush. A deluxe unit recirculates or uses fresh water for the bowl and usually has an interior hand sink, so people feel less like they walked into a construction toilet.

Flushing does help keep the bowl looking cleaner between visits, which cuts down on the "I am not going in there" reaction. It does not replace a proper chemical charge or a scheduled service visit. Odor still comes from tank level, heat, and how often the truck pumps and recharges.

For capacity, more standard units plus separate handwash stations usually beat a smaller deluxe mix when lines are the problem. I would put deluxe near VIP, sponsor, or food areas where people linger, and keep standards as the volume backbone with good restocking of paper and soap.

The deluxe unit's main advantage is the internal hand sink, which directly reduces cross-contamination from guests walking to a separate station. A deluxe unit is more complex: its flushing mechanism and sink pump require a fresh water tank that must be refilled on every service, and the gray water from the sink is often pumped separately from the toilet waste. For a three-day event, your rental company will plan more frequent service visits for deluxe units to keep the water tanks full, which is a key driver of the higher cost.
