Thanksgiving 2026 parade: 500 spectators, 3 hours. How many porta potties?

I'm coordinating a Thanksgiving parade in 2026 with an estimated 500 spectators over three hours. The crowd will be mixed ages, and we're expecting cool weather but no alcohol sales. The units will be placed on level grass in a city park, with truck access along a nearby service road. I need to figure out how many portable toilets to order to prevent long lines. Should I stick with all standard units, or add some deluxe ones with sinks? Also, what's the right number of ADA-compliant units for this size crowd?

Order 8 to 10 portable toilets for 500 spectators over three hours. Use the event planning guideline of one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event. Since your event is shorter and has no alcohol, aim for the higher end of that range to prevent lines. Include at least one ADA-compliant portable toilet to meet the ADA 5 percent cluster rule. For the remaining units, a mix of standard units and deluxe units with sinks improves comfort. Deluxe units cost more due to flushing mechanisms and fresh water tanks. Service is not needed for a single-day event, but confirm pickup timing with the rental company. Placement on level grass with truck access along the service road is ideal.
