Porta potties after a hurricane or flood when the septic is down: how do people manage?
Hurricane flooded our septic field and the county says it's a total loss. A relief group dropped off a standard portable toilet with a holding tank for our family of four. They said a vacuum truck will service it, but the ground is still soft mud and the driver had to park 50 feet away on the road. We're expecting to be without plumbing for at least six weeks. How do people keep these units stable on soggy ground, and what's the best way to handle the service visits when the truck can't get close? Also, should we ask for a handwash station too, since there's no running water?
