Hunting camp October 2026: 10 people, weekends only. Service frequency?

I run a hunting camp on my ranch for 10 people on weekends through October. The camp has no septic. I rent a standard portable toilet and an ADA-compliant portable toilet, placed on firm level ground. The service truck has to drive 40 miles to reach us, and access is good if the road stays dry. We use the units only two days a week, no alcohol, just simple meals. The rental company says weekly service is standard, but that seems wasteful for light use. Should I ask for biweekly service to save on trips, or stick with weekly to avoid odor issues? What's the minimum service frequency for weekends-only use?

Biweekly service is feasible for your hunting camp setup. The key factors are your light usage pattern and the holding tank capacity of your two units. A standard unit holds 50 to 70 gallons, and an ADA-compliant unit has a similar or larger tank. With only 10 people using them two days a week and no alcohol, the tanks will fill slowly. Odor control should remain manageable with the deodorizer recharge every two weeks, especially in cooler October weather.

Weekly service is the industry norm for continuous use, but your weekends-only schedule allows for stretching it. The 40-mile drive for the service truck is a cost driver, so reducing trips from weekly to biweekly will lower your bill. Confirm with your rental company that they offer biweekly service and that their deodorizer formula is effective for a two-week cycle. Just ensure the access road stays dry for the truck on service days.
