October 2026 craft fair: 300 attendees, mostly women, 10 hours.

I'm organizing an October 2026 craft fair in a city park with an expected 300 attendees, mostly women, over a 10-hour day. There will be food vendors but no alcohol served. The ground is level grass, and a vacuum truck can access within 20 feet of the proposed placement area. I'm planning to use standard portable toilets with holding tanks, but given the long duration and high female attendance, I'm considering adding some deluxe units with flushing bowls and sinks or even a restroom trailer for better comfort. How many total units should I order, and what's the right mix of standard, deluxe, and ADA-compliant units to avoid long lines and meet permit requirements?

Order eight total units for 300 attendees over ten hours. This includes at least one ADA-compliant portable toilet to meet the ADA 5 percent cluster rule for public events. Use a mix of standard units and deluxe units for comfort.

The event planning guideline suggests one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event. You need more units because your event is ten hours long and the crowd is mostly women. I would use four standard units, three deluxe units, and one ADA-compliant unit. The deluxe units with flushing bowls and sinks will reduce lines and improve satisfaction.

You must also provide toilets for your workers and vendors. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 requires one toilet for 20 or fewer workers. Count your staff and food vendor crews; their units can be part of the total eight if they are accessible to attendees, or you may need to add separate units for a workers-only area.

A restroom trailer is a high-comfort option but needs a generator or power hookup and level ground. It costs more than standard units due to the higher rental rate and the need for power setup. For a one-day event, multiple deluxe units are often more cost-effective than a trailer.

Service is not needed for a one-day event if the units are delivered clean and fully stocked. Confirm with your rental company that they will deliver units sanitized and with full paper and deodorizer.
