Backyard wedding: 100 guests, 4 hours. Alcohol served. Units needed?

Hi everyone, I'm planning a backyard wedding for 100 guests at my parents' house this spring. The reception will last about four hours, and we're having an open bar. The property is grassy, mostly level, and a truck can get within 30 feet of where we're putting up the tent. I want to make sure our guests are comfortable and that we follow the rules.

I've been looking at options like a standard portable toilet, a deluxe unit with a flushing bowl and sink, or a restroom trailer. For a crowd this size with alcohol, I know I need to plan for more than the basic minimum. I also need to include an ADA-compliant unit.

How many total units do we need? And what type of setup would you recommend for a wedding to keep things nice for guests?

Book deluxe units for guests, one ADA unit, and a separate handwash station, then let the rental office size the count off your exact numbers: 100 guests, 4 hours, open bar. The bar is the part that pushes the count up, so say it on the first call and make sure it lands on their units per person chart.

We just did a barn wedding with an open bar and the line problem showed up right after dinner and again after the toasts, not spread across the night. Extra units placed in one row helped way more than one fancy unit would have.

On the ADA piece, the 2010 ADA standard says that when toilets are grouped together, at least 5 percent of them, and never fewer than one, must be accessible. So if all your units sit in one cluster, one ADA unit covers you at your size. Put it on level ground with a firm path from the tent, not across soft grass.

A trailer is nice but needs power and water hookups and more room to back in. With a truck only 30 feet out you are fine for regular units. Also ask for a mid event check if your reception runs late, since paper and sanitizer go fast once the bar opens.
