What's the actual benefit of a flushing portable toilet over a standard unit?

We are planning a backyard wedding next spring at my parents' property in Charleston. We expect 140 guests, a tent, a band and full catering with alcohol for about six hours. The ground is grass, level, and a truck can get to the spot. I'm looking at a restroom trailer versus a cluster of standard units with a handwash station. Guests might appreciate a flush toilet, but I'm worried about the extra cost and setup. A trailer needs power and water hookups, while standard units just sit there. For a one-day event, is the guest experience that much better with flushing toilets? What do people actually notice?

A flushing portable toilet provides a guest experience much closer to a permanent restroom, which people notice immediately at an event like a wedding. A standard unit is a basic chemical toilet with a holding tank. A flushing unit, whether a standalone deluxe model or inside a restroom trailer, uses a small amount of water to flush waste into a sealed holding tank. The main benefits are the familiar flushing action, a more effective seal to contain odors, and an integrated handwashing sink. Guests absolutely notice the difference, especially in formal attire.

For 140 guests over six hours with alcohol, the units per person guideline suggests you'll need more than the minimum. A restroom trailer consolidates multiple stalls into one unit but requires significant setup: level ground, a standard electrical hookup or a generator, and a water source for its fresh water tank. A cluster of standard units with a separate handwash station is simpler to place and has no utility needs. The higher cost of a flushing option is driven by the unit's complexity, the required setup labor, and the utility logistics. For a one-day wedding, the upgrade is about comfort and presentation, not necessity.
