How many porta potties for 300 guests at an evening wedding?

We're finalizing the details for our outdoor wedding next month, and the porta potty count is the last big question. We'll have 300 guests for about five hours in the evening, with a full bar and dinner served. The ground is a flat lawn behind my parents' house, and the rental truck should have no trouble getting back there to drop off and service the units.

I've seen the standard guideline of one standard portable toilet per 50 people, but I'm not sure if that still applies for a party with alcohol. I also know we'll need at least one ADA-compliant portable toilet for the cluster. Should I be looking at a higher ratio for a wedding? And is a mix of standard and a few deluxe portable toilets a better idea for guest comfort than all standard units?

For 300 guests at a five-hour evening wedding with a full bar and dinner, you should plan for at least eight portable toilets, including an ADA-compliant unit. The standard units per person guideline starts at one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, but alcohol consumption and a five-hour duration increase usage and wait times. I would add more units beyond the baseline to maintain guest comfort.

A mix of standard and deluxe units is an excellent idea for a wedding. Standard units handle the basic capacity, while a few deluxe portable toilets with a flushing toilet and sink offer an upgraded experience, which guests appreciate at formal events. You are correct that you need at least one ADA-compliant portable toilet for the cluster to meet accessibility standards.

Since this is a single-evening event, you will need a service visit the day after for pumping and cleaning. The rental cost is driven by the number of units, the types you select (deluxe and ADA units cost more than standard), the delivery distance, and the single service call. Confirm with your rental company that the placement allows clear access for the vacuum truck on the service day.
