Neighborhood Halloween outdoor movie night: one porta potty for 120 people?

Our homeowners association is planning a Halloween outdoor movie night in the community park. We expect about 120 people, including kids and adults. The event runs from 6 to 8 PM, so it's only two hours. We'll have popcorn and soda, but no alcohol. The ground is flat grass, and a vacuum truck can drive right up to the site. I'm handling the permit and need to submit the restroom plan. The rental company suggested one standard unit, but that seems light for the crowd. Should we add another standard unit or consider an ADA-compliant unit for accessibility?

One standard unit is not enough for 120 people at a two-hour event. You should add at least one more standard unit and include an ADA-compliant unit to meet accessibility requirements.

The industry guideline for events is about one portable toilet per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event. Your event is shorter, but 120 people still exceeds that range. Since you have food and drinks, people will use the restrooms more. The ADA Standards for Accessible Design require at least one accessible unit in any cluster of portable toilets at a temporary event. Your HOA permit will likely need to show ADA compliance.

Rent two standard units and one ADA-compliant unit. Place them together on level ground with clear access for the vacuum truck. Service frequency isn't a concern for a two-hour event, the units will be delivered clean and serviced after. The cost depends on the number of units, delivery distance, and any permit coordination the rental company handles.
