Can a standard porta potty handle 10 people for a 3-day weekend music festival?

We're hosting a small music festival on our farm with about 10 campers staying the whole weekend. Everyone will be camping, so the standard portable toilet will get steady use from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. There's no alcohol, but we'll have food vendors. The ground is flat pasture, and a vacuum truck can drive right up to the spot. I'm worried about capacity for three days, will one standard unit handle it, or should I rent a second one? Also, does the service frequency need to be daily for this setup?

One standard portable toilet is not enough for 10 people for a three-day weekend camping festival. You need at least two standard units. The holding tank in a standard unit holds 50 to 70 gallons, and 10 people using it steadily for three days will fill it. Event planning guidelines start at one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, but camping use is heavier and longer. Add units for food service and overnight stays. Rent a second standard unit to prevent overuse and maintain sanitation.

Service frequency needs to be daily for this setup. Weekly service is the industry norm, but your festival has concentrated use over a short period. A daily service visit ensures the deodorizer is replenished, the tank is pumped before it overflows, and the interior is cleaned. Since you have flat pasture and truck access, the operator can service both units quickly. The cost will reflect the extra unit and the three service visits instead of one.

One standard unit can cover 10 dry campers for a three-day weekend if you book a Saturday service visit.

I have done small farm weekends in that headcount range with no bar. A standard holding tank is commonly 50 to 70 gallons. Ten people without alcohol and with vendors nearby is steady use, not an open-bar crush. Fresh on Friday, that tank usually still has room Saturday morning. By Sunday afternoon you want a pump so you are not riding the last gallons and fighting odor.

Daily service is more than this load needs. Ask for a Friday drop with a full deodorizer charge, a Saturday pump and restock, then Monday pickup. Keep the unit on flat pasture with clear truck access so the driver is not stretching hose across the field. Add a second unit only if day guests show up beyond the 10 campers. For campers alone, one unit plus that mid-weekend visit is the practical setup.
